Rock School Instructor - Job Description

UV Rock School seeks instructors for its Rock School performance classes and Rock Tools Camps. Instructors should have proven credentials in music instruction, should be proficient in mulitiple instruments and be able to relate to students of varying ages, ability and music genres.

Instructor, UV Rock School – Description of Duties

  • Represent and promote UV Rock School in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Support scheduling, policy definition,class composition and any other administrative needs of the executive director or his assistant.
  • Review all marketing materials.
  • Audition students for performance classes or camps.
  • Audition teachers for performance classes or camps.
  • Review list of registered participants and prepare for special needs, as necessary.
  • Teach performance classes or Rock Tools camps as assigned by the executive director
  • Be CPR and first aid trained (the company will pay for this training)
  • Oversee and instruct work-study students in their assigned duties.
  • Co-teach any class or camp as necessary.
  • Communicate with parents or direct the office to communicate with respect to camp logistics, schedules, and any relevant information as it relates to their child(ren) and the program.

Additional work available to Instructors

  • Teach individual or group lessons
  • Perform recording sessions with existing bands or individuals

Work Schedule
Unless extraordinary circumstances dictate otherwise, the following schedule has been set for 2009.

Performance Class Schedule
Classes may occur on any day of the week. You may dictate when classes meet based on your schedule. In the past, classes have met from 4:30 to 6:30 PM and 7 to 9 PM on weekdays and in the afternoons on Saturday and Sundays., Classes only run if a minimum of five students are enrolled. For 2009, the following sessions are scheduled.Subsequent years will likely follow a similar schedule.

  1. Winter Session: January 12th - March 14th, excluding the week of February 16th. Show at Whaleback Ski area from 2 to 8 PM on March 14th.
  2. Spring Session: April 6th – June 13th, excluding the week of April 20th. Show at Bradford Academy building from 2 to 8 PM on June 13th.
  3. Summer Session: July 6th – August 20th shows in Woodstock on August 19th (12-1 PM) and Bethel on August 20th (6 to 8 PM)
  4. Fall Session: September 7th – November 7th –  Show at Claremont Opera House on November 7th from 4 to 9 PM
  5. Holiday Session: November 16th – January 16th, 2010 – show at Lebanon Opera House on January 16th from 2 to 8 PM.

Rock Tools Camp
February 16-20, April 20-24, and July 6 through August 21st , approximately 10 AM to 4 PM each day or to be adjusted by the instructor.
